Well, here is my best solution.
1. Cut the pizza in half (cut #1) - makes 2 pieces.
2. Stack the 2 halves on top of each other.
3. Cut the halves in half (cut #2) - now you have 4 pieces.
4. Stack the quarters on top of each other.
5. Cut the quarters in half (cut #3) - makes 8 pieces in total.

FYI - I could cut the pizza into 7 pieces with 3 cuts (no stacking required)

Just looking at my solution...looks like a great example of exponents!!
cut #1 - 2^1
cut #2 - 2^2
cut #3 - 2^3

I can cut a cake into 8 equal pieces using 3 cuts and no stacking, but a pizza ... hmmm ... thinking about that one ... (thanks! ;-))

I liked Ms. Armstrong's solutions -- that's thinking "outside the box!' ;-)

Like ms.Armstrong said about the 7 pieces, i tried all day and still can only get 7 slices and they're not even all equal.

It was a really good one.
I solved it in 10 minutes. The first time ever for me to take this long on to solve the riddle.
